Ken Lundie worked actively on Coastal issues for many years after moving to Moss Beach from San Francisco with his family.
Describing himself as a mainstream conservationist, Lundie was president of the Coastside Preservation and Recreation Inc., a non-profit Land Trust that owned and maintained the Moss Beach Children's Park. He was appointed in 1998 to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (N.O.A.A.), and held the "Diving Seat" on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and was San Mateo County's sole representative on the 24-member Blue Ribbon Advisory Council that oversees the largest marine sanctuary in the world.
A San Francisco firefighter for 25 years, Lundie worked at San Francisco International Airport as a certified Fire Boat Pilot. He had also partnered in a commercial fishing vessel berthed at Pillar Point. He is an advocate for conservation of marine resources and sustainable fisheries management.
He is affiliated with the Pacific Land Trust, National Shellfish Association, Abalone and Marine Resources Council, World Abalone Association, Save Our Shores, Friends of the Fitzgerald Marine Life Refuge, Mid-Coast Parklands, International Association of Firefighters, Marine War Memorial Association, and the Half Moon Bay and Moss Beach Landing Fisherman's Marketing Associations.
